Here at EnVisage Dentistry Tweedsmuir we offer Child Smile appointments to all our little patients and are currently taking on new patients if you are looking to register your child with one of our dentists.
We will do our very best to make your child’s experience with us as enjoyable as possible.

If your child needs orthodontic (tooth straightening) treatment, we can refer them to a trusted orthodontic specialist.
Some children are eligible for NHS Orthodontic treatment, others have to pay – the orthodontist will be able to advise you of your treatment options when they have assessed your child’s teeth.
Child Smile
At EnVisage Tweedsmuir, we participate in the Child Smile program. Child Smile is a national program designed to improve the oral health of children in Scotland.
Under Child Smile, you will be given advice and support from our dental team, who will show you how you can stop your child from suffering from tooth decay in the future.
Our team will be able to provide you with information on how to look after your child’s teeth, explain tooth brushing to your child, provide advice on weaning and diet and provide regular check-ups to ensure healthy gums and teeth.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I take my child to the dentist for the first time?
We recommend bringing your child to your own dental appointments in order for them to get used to going to the dentist. Starting your child on their dental journey can be as early as 3 months. Child Smile is available at our practice.
When should I start brushing my baby's teeth?
Begin brushing your baby’s teeth as soon as the first milk tooth breaks through which is usually within the first 6 months, sometimes earlier.
How can I choose the best toothpaste for my child?
Use children’s fluoride toothpaste containing no less than 1,000ppm of fluoride (this can be found on the label) or family toothpaste containing between 1,350ppm and 1,500ppm fluoride. Use only a pea-sized amount.
